16th April 2008 Impressive comeback brings victory for Blues Over the last year our Under-12 Academy have built up a friendly rapore with Garden Village and once again we would like to thank them for their welcome again at this match. Without our goalkeeper and two other players due to injury we had a bare eleven but on the positive side we welcomed back Joe Gage for the match. The game fo the first two periods was very difficult with strong winds forcing route one football. In the first period we with the wind but struggled to cope with the long ball game and it was the home side that created the best chances but the score stayed level. In the second period Garden Village fancied their chances and put everything into their game. They were determined to turn us over for the first time. A poor clearance let their striker take a pop at stand in keeper Evan and made it a well deserved 1-0 to the home side. They could have scored again but for Ryan’s defending. We drew level with great determination from Mac and then we switched things to play with more width but the conditions were poor. Village scored again and looked like winners. In the final period we were 2-1 down but the wind eased and that was our call. Taylor opened them up time and time again and I switched Evan to midfield. Ash found Calvin and he made it 2-2 and within two minutes of the equaliser Calvin added another to make it 3-2. We could have scored again but time ran out. I thought when the conditions were good we looked like winners but over the whole game I think they deserved a draw at least as every one of the Village players gave their all. Well done. As for us well done lads, good patience and good spirit (Thanks Evan for playing wherever asked). Man of the match - Taylor Golding. David Davies Port Talbot Town Under-12‘s Academy Coach
