9th March 2008 Town lose in close encounter As the 1st Team lost a few days before against Llanelli in a game they didn’t deserve to lose it was repeated today by the scoreline for the Under-12 Academy side. After such a fantastic victory last Sunday against a top Swansea City side it was inevitable that we would come back down to Earth today. We started brightly and from the off opened up their defence, Calvin was unlucky and Evan had two shots also and to be honest in the first period I could not see the away side scoring as it ended 0-0. In the second period and against the wind Llanelli improved and looked strong on the ball but did not put us under any real danger. We defended really well and looked in control of the game although it did become scrappy. In the final period a lapse in concentration cost us and they pounced and took the lead. We tried very hard to push the game and became frustrated. From a game we controlled we were now losing. I think the players were trying too hard and were becoming increasingly frustrated and started to blame the ref (even though he wasn’t the best) and that is something you cannot do. Final score 1-0 to Llanelli, their first win of the season and well done to them. I think that today was one of those days and perhaps not a team performance. Plus points for us were our back four who were great today and a double man of the match to Alex and Ryan. David Davies Port Talbot Town Under-12‘s Academy Coach
