24th February 2008 Blues lose out to the better side The standard of football at Acadmey level is high and it shows that if you are not on your game on the day you will get turned over. Today we were in the game but not at our usual standard and we deserved to lose. We started well and created a chance in the first minute from which we were unlucky not to score, all also played well down the flanks and opened them up on two or three occasions but after that there was little to talk about. The away side played some good football, passing well and showing us they wanted revenge for the stuffing we gave them a fortnight ago. In the second period they were the much better side and we had no communication from the back to upfront and they deservedly took the lead from a mistake by us as we failed to close them down from a short corner. In the final period we upped our game to win the second phase ball but could not create anything, frustration kicked in and and to be honest we did not deserve anything from the game. It was a close game though and we learned a number of lessons from it. We have to play as a team and we cannot afford to take teams for granted, which I think we did. Like I said this is not local and you cannot afford to just turn it up 60%. As with previous poor performances however we will learn from it and correct things for our next match. Man of the Match today was Even Corcoran, I think he just gave a little bit more. David Davies Port Talbot Town Under-12‘s Academy Coach
