Blues impress in RE/MAX Stadium friendly
This was a special game, not just because it was my 40th birthday, but because we had two good teams that played some great football on a fantastic playing surface under floodlights at our own ground, the RE/MAX Stadium. A big thank you to Chairman Andrew Edwards, we all know what a great job he does with the senior team but has also shown us great support at junior level. Well done and a big thank you. The visitors were the far better side in the opening period of the game and played some good football. Port Talbot created the best chance though as Calvin Wellington created space with his strength and determination to hand us a 1-0 lead against the run of play. As I said, Cwrt Herbert were playing well and they soon drew level to make it 1-1. From the refs whistle to start the second period we started to look like an academy side, playing at pace, passing neatly and controlling the game. Some trickery by Taylor ‘Ronaldo’ Golding made enough space for himself and a perfect finish made it 2-1. Darcy then took his chance and made it 3-1 and I think we deserved it although the away side kept plugging away and pulled another goal back. In the last period we had some good chances and should have put them away but we created them from moved that we have worked on in training and that was pleasing for us. The fourth goal arrived from Joe Gage and there were some great performances out there from the back to upfront. Well done lads. Man of the Match was Calvin Wellington, he had everything tonight - Fantastic. Well done also to Evan Corcoran who played as goalkeeper as Rhys got injured before the game. I would like to thank all my squad members and parents for the cards and special gifts after the game for my 40 th birthday.
