16th August 2007 Port Talbot impress in attacking display A positive approach from the start gave Port Talbot a three goal lead at half-time in this match against Merthyr Tydfil at The RE/MAX Stadium. Port Talbot took the game to their opponents from the start with Sam Baker a constant problem for the visiting defence with his strong runs into the area while Nathan Hodgson and Rory Healey offered support from their deeper positions. Baker made his efforts count after only five minutes when he opened the scoring and the lead was doubled ten minutes later with a well taken goal from Healey. Lloyd Clement in the Port Talbot goal was rarely troubled as Merthyr forced a handful of corners with little result. On 30 minutes Port Talbot scored their third through the impressive Ben James to take a convincing lead into half-time. Merthyr pulled a goal back from the penalty spot midway through the second half but Aaron Jones scored a fourth for Port Talbot before Merthyr were awarded a second penalty to add to their tally. Port Talbot were delighted with their attacking performance but will be concerned after again conceding two penalties, the same as in their previous friendly.
