27th January 2008 Hat-Trick for Ashley on first game A fantastic and disciplined performance earned us a victory in this hard fought game at the Haverfordwest Bridge Meadow Stadium. The lads have not played for six weeks and with another two new players coming in we knew we were in for a game but out training over the last month has been spot on. The home side started very well, coming at us time and time again in the first period but our back four were great and so was Rhys. End of the first period and we were lucky to be on level terms. We then used the big pitch to our advantage and a great run from Taylor found our new striker Ash to neatly finish to make it 1-0. Our second goal was vintage Calvin Wellington, winning the ball strong, using his pace down the line before providing Ashley with a superb cross for him to score with a great header. Both sides had chances in the third period but again we defended well with Nathan Carter also having a very good game. Ashley then completed his hat-tick with another neat finish (what a first game!). Calvin scored the fourth goal when he rounded the keeper and it looked to be the perfect result with 90 seconds left. We switched off however, this is not the local league, this is Academy football, and we paid the price conceding two silly goals. We will correct this in training but well done lads, we beat a very good side. Well done to you all. Man of the match is hat-trick hero Ashley Edwards.
