25th November 2007 Healey and Baker hit brace in convincing win Midfielder Rory Healey and striker Sam Baker both grabbed a brace of goals in a comfortable 5-2 victory against a strong Pontardawe side. With new 1st team manager Nicky Tucker in attendance, Port Talbot set out to impress the new boss but it was the visitors who forced the early pressure with a series of corners but failed to trouble Lloyd Clement in the home goal but it was Port Talbot who took the lead from their first attack. Sam Baker won his side a corner through some good work on the right and Aaron Jones was on hand to head home the resulting set-piece. Pontardawe battled back in a game dominated by the referee’s whistle and Aaron Jones last ditch tackle in the area awarded the visitors a penalty. Ross Watkins stepped and made ni mistake for Pontardawe as he sent goalkeeper Lloyd Clement the wrong way but within minutes of the re-start Port Talbot were back in front when they were also awarded a penalty for a foul in the area and Sam Baker struck a well taken effort into the bottom corner of the net. Port Talbot extended their lead two minutes when Rory Healey scored the goal of the match with a long range effort that just dipped under the crossbar having beaten the advancing goalkeeper. The confidence in the Port Talbot side showed as they continued to push forward before half-time but could not add to their lead despite a number of chances. On 54 minutes Sam Baker extended the lead further when his cross to the back post drifted over the goalkeeper and swerved enough to hit the inside of the post and drop over the line to make the score 4-1. Pontardawe pushed forward but found Clement in excellent form while the return of Luke Pearson to the back four strengthened the home defence. Pontardawe pulled a goal back on 85 minutes with a well taken strike by Ross Watkins but with the match heading towards injury time Rory Healey restored the advantage for Port Talbot when he slid in at the back post to round off some excellent work by Baker to complete the scoring.
