Hodgson scores equaliser as Under-19‘s earn draw

Nathan Hodgson scored in the 85th minute of the match to hand a new look Port Talbot Town side a draw in this opening friendly match for the side. Keith Hanford and Huw Morgan’s side created chances in the opening half with Sam Baker the main front runner for the side but it was Llantwit Major who took the lead into half time after they scored from the penalty spot on 44 minutes after forcing impressive Port Talbot Town goalkeeper Lloyd Clement into a number of saves. Port Talbot looked more positive in the second half as Ben James came more into the game and they grabbed an equaliser on 60 minutes when Luke Fitzpatrick scored with a well taken shot. The home side came back into the game once again however and were awarded a second penalty on 75 minutes for a trip in the area and they took the lead from the spot. An injury to Clement in the Port Talbot goal further added to the problems for the side however but Port Talbot came back once again and it was Hodgson who grabbed the equaliser on 5 minutes when he turned a struck the ball from just inside a crowded penalty area to draw the game. Defender Luke Pearson was the best player for the side on the day and the team will take a number of positives from this performance.
