Blues suffer the ultimate humiliation
Port Talbot Town were disgraced in this Principality Welsh Premier League match at league leaders Llanelli. Games between the two sides have been competitive with Port Talbot taking an impressive record at Stebonheath Park into this match. Manager Tony Pennock kept the same starting line-up that drew 0-0 with Bangor the weekend before but few could have predicted the humiliation that was to follow. Former Port Talbot Town midfielder Andrew Mumford started the ball rolling for Llanelli when he headed home after just nine minutes but Port Talbot kept battling despite the early setback and Chad Bond came close with two half chances at the other end before Mumford added a second for his side with an almost identical header. Following the second goal Port Talbot had their brightest spell of the match and forced a series of corners before top scorer Martin Rose headed narrowly wide with Port Talbot’s best chance of the half. Referee Wayne Tregonning then signalled for half-time and with it signalled the beginning of the end for Tony Pennock’s side. Port Talbot came out for the second half without Martin Rose or Lee John as Kerry Morgan and Scott Barrow took their places on the field. Within five minutes of the re-start Llanelli had doubled their lead to 4-0 with goals from Rhys Griffiths and Mark Pritchard. On 58 minutes Gareth Phillips was shown a straight red card and Llanelli were awarded a penalty for a foul in the area and Griffiths scored his second of the game from the spot. Chad Bond was next to see red when his reckless tackle on the half-way line on 75 minutes left him walking towards the tunnel before being shown the resulting card, such was the severity of his actions. Former Afan Lido striker Mark Jones added to Port Talbot’s misery on 78 and 84 minutes with another two goals before Rhys Griffiths completed his hat-trick against his former club when he scored Llanelli’s eighth goal on 87 minutes. It was an unacceptable performance from Port Talbot, let down by poor discipline that will have a knock on effect to the already limited squad.

Steelmen slump to record loss

Port Talbot slumped to a humiliating club-record eight-nil defeat at Stebonheath Park as they finished the game with nine men. Five goals from ex-Talbot favourites Andrew Mumford and Rhys Griffiths helped to consolidated the Reds in the Welsh Premier's top spot, but left Steelmen's boss Tony Pennock with plenty to ponder. Mumford started the rot when he headed home after just nine minutes and added a second with an almost identical header on 28 minutes. The visitors' top scorer Martin Rose headed narrowly wide with Talbot’s best chance of the half but the half-time replacement of Rose and midfielder Lee John back-fired on Pennock. Within five minutes of the restart the Reds were four goals to the good with goals from Griffiths and Mark Pritchard. Things got worse on 58 minutes when Gareth Phillips was shown a straight red card for a foul in the box and Griffiths made no mistake from the resulting spot kick. A reckless challenge led to the dismissal of Chad Bond and former Afan Lido striker Mark Jones added to Talbot's misery with a brace on 78 and 84 minutes. Former Remax favourite Griffiths then completed his hat-trick against his former club to end a miserable night for the visitors.

Reds romp to eight-nil thrashing
The Family Festival of Football kicked off in emphatic style in Llanelli this evening as the Reds put on a Master-class to smash Port Talbot Town. The Reds romped to an incredible 8-0 victory over Port Talbot Town at Stebonheath this evening. The Table-Toppers followed up their convincing midweek Loosemores Cup triumph with an even more impressive display to extend their lead at the top of the Principality Welsh Premier. The Reds opened the scoring as early as the ninth minute through former Port Talbot midfielder Andy Mumford and the lead was doubled by the same man just before the half-hour mark. With the score just 2-0 at the break, nobody could have predicted the second-half mauling that they were about to witness as another former Steelman, Rhys Griffiths rubbed salt into his former side's wounds with a hat-trick. His first came on 49 minutes followed by a 58th penalty and an 87th minute third. Fellow striker Marc Pritchard also scored in the 50th minute, whilst impressive youngster Craig Jones, struck a brace after coming on as a sub. To make matters worse for the visitors, midfielder Gareth Phillips was sent-off.
