22nd October 2007 Goytre make Port Talbot pay for missed chances Port Talbot can only blame poor finishing for not taking a comfortable lead into the second half of this match and paid the price as Goytre ran out convincing winners with a much improved second half performance. Port Talbot started the better of the two sides with Luke James testing the home defence in the early exchanges with a free kick on the edge of the area before Aaron Jones made space for himself in the area on 15 minutes but his tame effort was saved by the advancing keeper. On 20 minutes an excellent through ball from Daniel Morgan split the Goytre backline and Ben James found himself one-on-one with the keeper but again he was unable to direct his effort into goal. Frustrations for the visitors increased on 35 minutes when Goytre took the lead with a scrappy goal and with the momentum in their favour Lloyd Clement was called into action to make two fine saves before half-time. Goytre started the better side in the second and their confidence increased as Port Talbot become more frustrated in thier search for an equaliser and as the game went on Goytre became the far more organised of the two sides. The home team then doubled their lead on 70 minutes and went even further in front on 79 minutes leaving Port Talbot with little to play for but pride. Ben James went close for Port Talbot but a fine saved prevented him adding to his seasons goal tally but a well placed through ball on 89 minutes found James in space on the edge of the area and with a good touch he set himself up to score a consolation goal. It proved to be too little too late for his side however with their opening half chances proving very costly.
