Bond on target in dominating performance

Striker Chad Bond scored the only goal of the game but the result was far more comfortable than the score suggests in a game that Port Talbot Town dominated. Manager Tony Pennock named an attacking starting line-up and Port Talbot took the game to their Welsh League opponents from the start. Chad Bond and Martin Rose combined well upfront but both struggled to hit the target and found the home goalkeeper in inspired form whenever they did. Port Talbot were forced to make a change midway through the opening half when Scott Barrow went over on his ankle and had to come off for treatment. Despite their increased pressure Port Talbot did not make the breakthrough until the 44th minute when Chad Bond benefited from an attacking move by Martin Rose to score inside the penalty box with a well taken strike. Port Talbot continued to dominate throughout the second half with both Daniel Lancey and Dyfan Pierce joining Bond and Rose in coming close to extending the lead but they were again prevented by the home goalkeeper. Tony Pennock was rarely called upon in the Port Talbot goal has the side claimed a comfortable victory despite only scoring once and will take a number of positives from this latest performance.
