14th October 2007 Still no luck in white! Our Under-14‘s travelled once again to Llanelli for a repeat fixture and we again outplayed our bigger and stronger opponents for large parts of the game but once again lost. Is it those white jerseys? Some great passing movements in the first period , but no end product. In fact Llanelli showed their threat with more direct football , but our keeper Aaron Ryan made a number of good saves to keep the scores blank. In the second period we were hit by 3 quick goals all very similar, a combination of naive defending and good finishing saw Llanelli take control of the game. Our heads dropped and it was not until the final period and after a stern talking to from Head Coach Mark Pike that we started to play again and showed real spirit to create a number of chances but the Llanelli keeper proved hard to beat. Finally, from a freekick on the right the ball was headed back across goal for that demon goal poacher Sam Hodge to get a touch and the ball sneaked in the corner of the net! We tried hard to get number two and forced a succession of corners, where keeper Aaron Ryan joined the attack, only for Llanelli to clear up field and shoot on an open goal. It looked like 4-1 but some how Ryan ran the length of the field , stuck out a telescopic leg and cleared over the bar! A good, gutsy finish to he game and the boys showed that soon they will end the curse of the white jerseys! Tony Bowen
