On a day when the frost put pay to most games the boys played Cynffig at a white and glistening Western Avenue. The boys began like a house on fire with some fine passing and moving and from an early Pikey corner "The Pest" Kavan managed to force the ball home from close range. This was followed by a goal from Chay after some top drawer build up play. The second period continued in the same vain with some quality passing and all round team play, this was rewarded when Jack Hurley on his debut broke beat a player before unleashing a memorable shot from 18 yards which found the top corner, just as the coach was going to shout pass!!!!!! The third period saw Cynfig come a little more into the game but Cory was up to the task making some good stops in goal, at the other end Chay managed to find the back of the net twice, the first after some good team work and the second a quality finish of his KNEE from close range! The last period saw three goals unfortunately not all for us although we did score 2 of them. It was now getting hard to keep the boys in position as they all pushed forward and we put ourselves under pressure when Cynffig broke on the attack. Saying this we did score the first 2 goals of the period, the first from "The Pest" Kavan after build up play which started from Cory in goals, the second was a goal mouth scramble which from where i was stood was a own goal but Ashley assured me as he handed over the £10 note it came off him! Cynffig did get the goal they deserved near the end with a fine strike from their centre forward. Final Score 7 - 1 and overall an outstanding display by the boys, with extra training more than paying off. Man Of The Match too close to call, fine displays from "The Pest" Kavan, Pikey ( our captain ) and Jack Hurley on his debut the stand out midfield player on the field.
