PT & District League Under-14 Division
Saturday, 10th October 2009
Port Talbot U-14’s
0-3
Afan Lido Rangers U-14’s
In perfect conditions at Western Avenue the two best teams in the league met for
the first time this season and it was Afan Lido Rangers who deserved the win over
the 70 minutes although i thought the 3rd goal was undeserved. The game was played
at a fast pace and it was more like an academy match rather than local league, the
lido were on top for the first 25 minutes but we were defending well however we then
started to play and it was Taylor Golding through on goal in a 1 on 1 twice in 5
minutes but hit one wide and the keeper saving the other. Half time 0-0. The second
half Lido seemed to pick out some weak points from our game and were opening us up
and they deserved the first goal, the second was a great finish, I then changed things
by playing three in defence by trying to claw something back, we did have a few half
chances but nothing more Lido were sharper all the 2nd half ,and then an unlikely
mistake by our defence gifted them the 3rd. Final score 3-0, well done to the Lido
you were worthy winners today. My lads, well done also, we knew today was going to
be difficult, there is not much between the both sides if anything but with three
key players missing it was a task too much today, we will try our best to turn things
around next time we play and hopefully it will be another entertaining game. David
