It's winter time!! On a cold, wet and windy morning Glyncorrwg made the long journey down the valley to play the boys, this was a welcome change as they were not in our league last season. The first period was very poor with our usual passing nowhere to be seen as the boys got use to the Winter weather after being spolit with sunshine in September, although when we did manage a few passes we created chances, Jack somehow managing to miss to from 3 yards out with the goal at his mercy!! Glyncorrwg then opened the scoring after a scramble in the box but the boys fought back well and Corey equalised after a great pass from Pikey. We then conceded a second from a free kick, the first shot was blocked by Max but no one reacted and the same player followed up to score with the rebound. There were some VERY stern words during the last break and the boys were told to show how much they wanted the game and FINALLY we played some football which resulted in 3 unanswered goals. The equaliser came from Corey after a strong tackle and cool pass from Lewis on the half way line, the hat trick goal came after a goalkeeper error gave Corey the ball 15 yards out where he cooly slotted home. The final goal was scored by Aaron after some neat build up play from Corey the ball got to Aaron on the right hand side and he smashed it home, which was lucky as he had just had the wrath of the coach for shooting when he should have crossed! The game ended slightly earlier than it should as the Glyncorrwg coach thought it was ok for one of his players to threaten and intimidate the boys and would not remove him from the field, nothing like a sore loser, final score 4-2, Man Of The Match Lewis Wozencroft for strong tackling and always looking to play out of defence and a cracking hand ball? A mention also for Corey great hat trick and Cory for some great saves especially when we were still 2-1 down. A poor performance but hard working display. Ian Wozencroft, Manager.
