Manager Mark Jones named an attacking starting line-up for this Welsh Cup match and his side produced with an excellent display to easily defeat their Welsh League opponents. Port Talbot took the game to Cwmbran Celtic from the start but did not take the lead until 14 minutes when Martin Rose slotted the ball home form close range to hand his side the lead. Drew Fahiya and Scott Barrow were a constant problem with their pace for the visiting defence but the second goal arrived in style from defender Leigh De-Vulgt who picked up the ball in midfield and drilled a 35-yard shot into the top corner of the net after 26 minutes to double the lead. Port Talbot continued to push forward and came close to adding a third on a number of occasions through Rose and Liam McCreesh but it was Scott Barrow who came the closest as he struck the post with a superb free-kick after half an hour. Cwmbran Celtic remained committed and played some decent football but lacked a final ball of any quality to test the returning Lee Kendall in the Port Talbot Town goal. The visitors came more into the game in the opening part of the second half but again struggled to find a way past the Port Talbot Town defence and on 68 minutes Mark Jones side extended their lead as Drew Fahiya made up for a couple of missed chances to score his sides third goal of the game with well-placed shot. Fahiya also had a goal disallowed for offside by the assistant referee but it would not matter as Martin Rose added his second of the game on 80 minutes and then grabbed his hat-trick on 85 minutes to complete a comprehensive victory for his side and take them into the draw for the 3rd round.

There was never a hint of an upset at the GenQuip Stadium as Port Talbot cruised to a handsome 5-0 victory over Welsh League division two high-flyers Cwmbran Celtic. Martin Rose enjoyed another fruitful night with a well-taken hat-trick, while other goals came from Drew Fahiya and a Leigh De Vulgt special. Manager Mark Jones said: "It was a very comfortable win and we went about the task in a thoroughly professional manner. Cwmbran tried hard and had a few players who caught the eye but we never looked in any danger. Leigh De Vulgt's strike was the highlight, a fantastic shot from 30 yards that flew into the top corner. He's a talented lad who showed the quality that earned him a place at Swansea City. It was a professional's strike." Rose gave the Steelmen a 14th-minute lead and De Vulgt's 26th-minute thunderbolt effectively ended the tie as a contest. Scott Barrow struck the post before Fahiya (63) added the third with a neat finish. Two typical Rose goals in the final 10 minutes made it a romp with Port Talbot facing more difficult hurdles to come.

Port Talbot Town coasted to a 5-0 Second Round Welsh Cup win against Cwmbran Celtic in the Welsh Cup at the GenQuip Stadium this evening. The hosts started brightly and Scott Barrow's early effort was well saved by 'keeper Nicky Church. The Principality Welsh Premier League outfit took the lead on 13 minutes, when Martin Rose responded quickly to tap the ball home after Church could only parry a strong Lee John free-kick. There wont be many better goals scored on Welsh Cup weekend than the second for the Steelmen as right-back Leigh DeVulgt scored a 35-yard screamer into the far top left corner, which Church could only watch in amazement. After the break, the hosts were again always in the ascendancy and Rose became the provider to find space in the box before laying off to Drew Fahiya who gratefully fired home into an open net. Fahiya had one disallowed shortly after from another Rose assist, with Liam McCreesh blocking 'keeper Church in an offside position. Rose then scored his deserved brace after a Nicky Holland header found the striker and the in-form forward scored from a very acute angle to make it 4-0. Rose then scored his first hat-trick of the season after a mistake at the back from Lloyd Davies and Church almost led to an own-goal before Rose raced on to steal his third.
