24th September 2007 - Daily Post Match Report Druids were left with plenty to ponder after suffering their second five-goal drubbing in a week to further dent their early season optimism. Kerry Morgan's hat-trick made it a dismal trip for the Ancients, who also had midfielder Ricky Evans somewhat harshly sent off on the hour. The encounter was effectively over long before then with the Steelmen opening up a commanding 4-1 interval lead as the visiting defence showed similar frailties that were evident in their 5-1 reverse at Bangor a few days earlier. Joint boss Lee Jones admitted there were no excuses as the visitors subsided after conceding a sloppy first goal. "Before last week we had conceded just four goals, the players have done everything we've asked of them, but now we've shipped in 10 in our last two matches which is not acceptable," he said. "We weren't at the races again and, after giving the players a chance to put things right, we'll be looking to make some changes." Morgan put the hosts on course with a 23rd minute opener and Liam McCreesh blasted home a fine shot five minutes later. Martin Rose made it three before Kevin Holsgrove gave the Druids a glimmer of hope with a stunning 25-yard reply. But there was no way back once Morgan pounced for his second goal on the stroke of the interval. After Evans was dismissed, allegedly for punching an opponent, Morgan completed his hat-trick on 70 minutes.
24th September 2007 - South Wales Evening Post Pennock delight after timely win Port Talbot Town manager Tony Pennock admitted that his side's superb 5-1 demolition of Newi Cefn Druids at the Remax Stadium provided a timely and much-needed boost.Inspired by Swansea City wizard Kerry Morgan, who slammed in a magnificent hat-trick, the Steelmen secured only their second victory of the campaign. Ironically, the other success was also at home, against Newtown, and by the same scoreline. ‘'I probably sound happier than I have done for a few weeks and for good reason,'' said Pennock. ''We desperately needed that win. It was a better victory than the one against Newtown as we played the football I know we are capable of in the style myself and Paul (Reid) want to play. We were unbelievable for the first 35 minutes and scored three in a great five-minute spell.'' Pennock maintains that his side are under-deliverers so far but warned: ''We are a match for any team in this league, especially with everyone fighting for the cause.'' And he reserved special praise for three-goal hero Morgan. ''He's always a real threat, gives 100 per cent every match, is a real jack-in-the-box and his finishing, as he showed today, is fantastic.'' Matthew Thompson set up Morgan's opener in the 23rd minute, and six minutes later it was 3-0 courtesy of Liam McCreesh and Martin Rose. Kevin Holsgrove (35) pulled one back for the visitors but Morgan's superb 45th-minute header restored the three-goal lead. Ricky Evans was sent off in the 58th minute for a crude challenge on Thompson before Morgan buried the fifth to complete a hugely satisfying afternoon.
23rd September 2007 - Wales on Sunday Kerry’s hat-trick wins for Port Talbot Port Talbot’s new manager Tony Pennock, with years of goalkeeping experience under his belt, is learning a new trade, and he was understandably pleased with this, his best result so far. It did wonders for the goal difference too, and he has the advantage of working with a young squad. Speaking after the game, he was reluctant to single out individuals – emphasising that it had been a good team effort, particularly in the first half, when they built a 4 - 1 lead. However, you can't ignore hat-tricks, and new striker Kerry Morgan caught the eye with two goals in the first half, and another 20 minutes from time. Pennock did single out Liam McCreesh, who has made the short journey from Afan Lido, and who scored an excellent goal, with a fierce shot from the edge of the area. Pennock praised his versatility and overall contribution to the team. The final goal came from Martin Rose, now in his second season at Port Talbot, and who is forging a promising partnership with Morgan.
22nd September 2007 - www.welsh-premier.com Hat-trick joy for Kerry Manager Tony Pennock has been puzzled by his side's indifferent early-season form, but the Steelmen finally got their act together with a 5-1 demolition of the Druids. On-loan Swansea starlet Kerry Morgan led the way with a hat-trick, but Pennock also singled out ex-Afan Lido midfielder Liam McCreesh - who also scored - for his contribution. Morgan got his first on 23 minutes following good work by Matthew Thompson and the visitors were on the rack five minutes later, when McCreesh steered his shot past keeper Chris Mullock into the top corner. It quickly got worse for the Ancients - who also fell 5-1 at Bangor in midweek - when Martin Rose was put through by Lee John to score from eight yards. Ex-Everton youth Kevin Holsgrove replied for the visitors but hopes of a comeback were killed-off on the stroke of half-time with Morgan's superb header from a long clearance by keeper Kris Rogers. The visitors' miserable day was compounded by the 58th-minute dismissal of Ricky Evans for a challenge on Thompson, before McCreesh fed Morgan for the hat-trick goal.
