Luke Paynton scored twice for the Under-19 side as we claimed our first win of the
season. Paynton grabbed both goals as the side defeat Barry Town 2-0 at Jenner Park
in Group B of the MacWhirter Youth League Cup. Payntons first was scored two minutes
after the restart as he lobbed the Barry keeper from 22 yards, the second on 81 minutes
was one fit for the Premiership, a screaming volley from 25 yards. We bounced back
from last weeks defeat with style. Young academy players Adam Thornton and Oliver
Bowen made their first starts and youth debuts which was a pleasure to see. Both
players should be proud of their debuts, this is just the start of academy players
coming through ranks, If they are 16 that’s old enough!!. The experience will only
come by putting these youngsters straight into the mix. Nerves and inexperience was
the difference last weekend but training this week was excellent together with a
high tempo game today was the difference bewteen the sides. All players were awesome
today! Although we were defeated 2-1 last weekend at home to Bryntirion we will now
approach next weeks Welsh Cup match against Cambrian & Clydach at The GenQuip Stadium
in confident mood following their opening victory. Mark Pike, Manager.
