Porthcawl A U-
Goalscorers
Port Talbot Town Under-
James King (1)
Cameron Sheehy (1)
A glorious sunny day saw Port Talbot play they first away game of the season against Porthcawl at locks lane.
This also saw us for the first time this season playing the 5 a side rules under the new guidelines set out by the FAW. We were asked to play 2 games firstly against Porthcawl A then followed with a game against their B side.
First game got underway with Port Talbot kicking off in the glorious weather against Porthcawls A side. Straight away the PTFC players starting passing the ball around as well as they can and quickly adapting to the smaller goals and new rules. On times during the first half the passing and movement shown by all the PTFC players was superb and they deservedly took the lead thanks to a cool finish from James King. Porthcwal also started to get into the game but were denied an equalising goal thanks to a superb stop from our goalkeeper Callum Young. With a few minutes remaining of the first half PTFC doubled their lead. Again some slick passing lead to a chance for Cameroon Sheehy who slotted the ball passed the helpless goalkeeper. Second half got underway with PTFC quickly getting into their stride and were denied a third goal by a superb save from the Porthcawl goalkeeper. Another great move saw Luke Young breaking down the left hand side and unleashing a great shot acroos the goal only to see the ball hit the post. Porthcwal also started to make some decent chances and pulled a goal back with 5 minutes to go. With only a few minutes remaining Porthcawl started to push for the equaliser which left space at the back but a rocket strike from Cameron Sheehy just cleared the bar. Then in the dying seconds a mix up in the PTFC defence led to a Porthcwal equalising goal. All in all a great game of football and a credit to both teams. Darren King, Manager.
