Match Report
The recent good weather well and truly left us for this match, the boys having to play in the rain and wind for a change. The first period saw both teams look to play football and at a high tempo, which caused the referee (Mark Pike) some problems due to lack of fitness!! Although goal chances were few with defences having the upper hand, 0-0. The second period followed in the same manner with the ball being knocked around the field well by both teams. Then from out of the blue Aaron Sarich picked the ball up close to the half way line and let go with a speculative shot which somehow managed to elude the Lido keeper and find the back of the net, 1-0. The third period saw the Lido press hard for the equaliser only to be kept at bay by a hard working defence and fine saves from Lewis in goal. The final period saw both teams create chances, the Lido pressing hard up the field and Port Talbot breaking on the counter attack but there were to be no more goals, Final Score 1-0. As the ref blew the final whistle the cries of joy from the players could be heard in Neath!!! This was a whole team victory and our first over the Rangers. Man Of The Match was easy EVERYONE, as they all gave 110%. The challenge now is to keep this high level of performance going, well done boys.
