Karl Lewis and Matthew Thompson retained their places in the starting line-up as manager Mark Jones named an unchanged team for this Principality Welsh Premier League match. It did not start well for Port Talbot Town however as Airbus UK Broughton had the far better of the opening exchanges and their excellent passing game created the opening goal on 17 minutes when Tom Rowlands found himself in space inside the area and turned to score with a fine strike that went under goalkeeper Kristian Rogers. Port Talbot cam back into the match but Rogers first had to redeem himself with two impressive saves before Karl Lewis scored the equaliser with an excellent header at the near post from a wide free-kick. The goal boosted the confidence in Mark Jones side and more chances were created for the home side before the break. Lee John came more into the match in the second half and after testing the Airbus UK defence with a couple of early runs he became provider for Martin Rose to score his 50th league goal for the club as he headed home a cross from John at the far post. It was no more than Port Talbot deserved as they began to take charge of the game but Airbus were almost allowed back into the match but were denied by Rogers who again was called into action to make another impressive save. The introduction of impressive youngster Gary Bansor steadied the Port Talbot defence as they comfortably held on for three points.

Port Talbot boss Mark Jones delighted with victory

After playing second fiddle for half an hour, Port Talbot hit back to take the points and continue their dramatic rise up the table. They now lie seventh, but manager Mark Jones is not content with that. “We can go higher and that is our aim for the last three matches.” he said. “This was a very good win as we were passed off the park by a very good Airbus side for the opening half hour. I thought we were playing TNS. But the lads again showed great character and commitment to claw ourselves back. It was not a great performance, but three points again.” Tom Rowlands put the Wingmakers in front in the 15th minute, but two great Lee John deliveries produced headed goals for Karl Lewis (35) and Martin Rose (77) – his 50th for the club.
