Match Report
For our last game of the season we had the honour of playing Cwmavon at the GENQUIP Stadium in the blazing sunshine, unfortunately the quality venue and weather did not produce a quality display from the boys. Although the Athletic tried their best to get the ball down and pass the slightly smaller pitch and use of a lighter ball seemed to suit the long ball tactics of Cwmavon better. Despite these slight changes the boys still at times played some eye catching football the only thing missing was the goal at the end. At the other end Lewis made some of his usual high quality saves and showed how much his distribution has improved this year with some quick and intelligent throw outs. Just when you thought the game was going to end 0-0 Lewis Fellows has cleared the ball using his feet only for the manager to be heard saying "USE YOUR HANDS!" What the manager did not see was the ball go straight to Pikey who Finally managed to find the back of the net, that kept the manager quiet for the rest of the match!! Final score 1-0, a big thank you must go to all the Town players and parents who stayed on after their game to support the Athletic, also the Bryn team who stayed on after playing the Town, this made for a fantastic atmosphere. Although i do think the free sausage and chips had some influence in this? Man Of The Match going to Pikey for causing problems every time he had the ball, even though he missed a few chances.
