Match Report
On a perfect day for football Porthcawl C made the long journey to Western Avenue to play the Athletic. From the whistle the boys were straight into their game giving Porthcawl no time to settle and were rewarded with 2 quick goals, the first from Corey after a pass from Tom and the second an own goal off one of the Porthcawl defenders, 2-0. The second period followed the first with the majority of the play in the Porthcawl half with two wicked corners from Pikey nearly resulting in two headed goals the first from Tom and the second from Corey which hit the bar. The goals finally came from Corey one after a good solo run and neat finish, the second when Lewis won a challenge in his own half before beating one player and sending a perfect pass to Corey to score, 4-0. The third period and some of the football was now really pleasing the home supporters and when Pikey sent in another of his wicked corners all the Porthcawl defender could do was put it into his own net. A goal for Pikey to finally claim as his own came when Tom crossed for Ashley who's shot was saved only for Pikey to score from the rebound, 6-0. The final period saw two final goals for the Athletic, a lovely ball from Ashley was put into the net by Corey and finally a shot from 15 yards from Ryan somehow managed to find it's way through the keepers legs ( as the coach was heard to say if you don't shoot you don't score ) final score 8-0. A brief thought for Lewis in goals who didn't have a real save to make in the match but again was spot on with his distribution. Man Of The Match award is now getting really difficult as so many of the boys are playing well, but it goes to.....Ryan and Tom who totally bossed the midfield.
