Report by Ian Wozencroft Match Report On a bitterly cold morning both Port Talbot teams lined up to play against each other, with the weather being so cold 9 a side was played by both teams. the Athletic were without Lewis Fellows (ill) but 4 brave volunteers agreed to go in goals (thanks Lewis, Corey, Alex P and Pikey), The first 10 minutes was all Athletic with the majority of play in the Town half, the wind having alot to do with this. Despite some brave defending and great saves by William the Athletic managed to score 2 goals the first from a Ryan Harding shot inside the area and the second from Corey after a good pass from Morgan, 2-0. The second period was a more even affair with the Town coming more into the game and creating chances of their own, 2-0. The third period followed in a similar fashion to the second both teams working hard but with no end result, 2-0. The final period saw the Athletic FINALLY start to get the ball wide quick which resulted in 2 further goals, the first from Tom Philpott after a determined run and bone breaking challenge with Kavan! The second from Pikey which was the goal of the match, after some neat build up play out wide the ball reached Corey who sent over a quality cross which Pikey stuck into the back of the net with a bullet HEADER! final score 4-0. Man Of The Match Tom Philpott for solid display in the middle of the park, although everyone deserves a mention for producing a good game in freezing conditions, both William and Kavan standing out for the Town. This was also the last league game for Kelan Power who is off to Baglan BGC we all wish him the best with his new club.
