Afan Lido Colts Under-10‘s 2

Match Report
On a bitterly cold and damp morning at Western Avenue Afan Lido Colts were the visitors and they approached this game with a lot of confidence considering they drew with our Athletic team only a couple of weeks ago. Again Port Talbot Town were short in numbers where as the Lido were there with plenty. Missing at least four players the Town were there with only 7 boys but what a game. These lads showed in recent weeks that even when things get tough they are ready. The game started with a fast pace with both teams obviously trying to get the early goal and that was going to come for Connor Margetson for Port Talbot 1-0,a really well taken goal at that, unfortunately it did’nt last long before Lido equalised to make it 1-1, a really good 10 minutes of football. Into the second 10 minutes and it was much the same as the first, only with the Lido taking the lead 1-2, and Town getting their second with Jordan McCarthy scoring his first of the game 2-2. Into the third 10 and now our lads were showing Lido the way to play, some good play from Kavan Williams and Kelan Power who scrapped for every ball in midfield, some well timed tackles in defence from Alex Williams to make sure Lido were kept away from goal and of course the goals from Connor Margetson who scored his second of the game to send us into the final session 3-2 up. The last 10 minutes and Lido tried everything they could but they could not break through a determined Port Talbot defence, William Fox was having another fine game, as was Alex,Kelan, Kavan, Jordan, Jade and Connor and with only minutes to go it was another goal for Connor (hat trick) Margetson that made the final score 4-2 .A sweet result over the old enemy. Well played lads (and lady).
