Report by Keith Williams Match Report On a damp, gloomy day Port Talbot Town under 10`s travelled to the Evans Bevans playing fields to play Baglan. With four key players missing the Town knew this was going to be a tough match. Into the first 10 minutes and all hell broke loose in this match, this was always going to be fast and physical and with the tackles coming in real hard something was going to give. Alex Williams in defence was having a really good game, probably his best this season and within minutes of the start of the game he had their centre forward flat in the mud with a firm but fair challenge. Moments later Baglan were awarded a free kick from some distance out and took the lead, 0-1. This was immediately followed with a firm strike from Kelan Power which was saved. William Fox was having a busy time for us in goal but proved he was a match for their strikers. Into the second 10 and Town were playing much better with Kelan Power, Alex Williams and Alex Philpott all playing really good football. Jade Dawkins picked up the ball in midfield and produced what I thought was the move of the match with a sharp turn she left Baglan for dead, unfortunate not to get the strike in though. This was Port Talbot’s 10. Into the third session and the pitch was starting to take it’s toll on our 7 players with the heavy pitch and Baglan using their weight in numbers it was only a matter of time. That came soon enough for them, they threw everything up and from a severely crowded penalty box the ball slipped past the goalie and this was quickly followed by a third goal, and a really good one at that. All the lads were giving everything but were getting no reward 0-3. Into the final 10 minutes, Town were pressing for that elusive goal which they deserved but Baglan broke away and scored 0-4. Town never gave up and Jade Dawkins pulled one back, well done. 1-4. No man of the match for this one as everyone played their hardest but a special mention to Kelan Power, Alex Williams and Alex Philpott who played their hearts out. Well done all.
