Match Report
On a wet and windy morning the boys travelled to locks lane with a full squad except for Lewis Wozencroft. The boys took a short to settle before Corey Evans opened the scoring with a bullet HEADER from a perfect Morgan Davies cross. This seemed to relax the whole team and it was no surprise when Ashley Lewis scored the second at the far post from a cross from Corey, 0 - 2. The second period was one to forget for Port Talbot as the passing game was no where to be seen, this is a habit the coach will have to address and soon! 0 - 2. Needless to say the boys had a few encouraging words from the coach in the break and things did seem to improve with Morgan Davies scoring with a good shot after an intelligent throw from Lewis Fellows to Corey who crossed for the goal. Corey then beat his marker on the half way line before running in to score, the hat trick came soon after from an Aaron Sarich cross. Porthcawl then scored themselves when Lewis Fellows had a sudden rush of blood and came charging out to meet the centre forward, who beat him to the ball and calmly finished into the empty goal. Lewis did make up for this error with some fine close saves before throwing out to Ashley who sent over a great cross for Corey to score yet again! 1 - 6. The final quarter was played with 7 players as Morgan went off complaining of asthma, though the boys battled well and were unlucky not to score on several occasions after some crazy goal mouth scrambles. Ryan Harding did manage another goal off his knee after some good work from Corey, final score 1 - 7. Ashley Lewis played well yet again but Man Of The Match has to go to Corey Evans for his all round contribution, scoring a headed goal and for the first time ever not going down injured during a game!!
