Match Report
On yet another fine winters day Bryn Rovers made the journey to Western Avenue. The Athletic were missing Lewis Wozencroft (broken thumb) and Lewis Fellows who phoned in sick, to be replaced at the last minute by William Fox, a big thank you to William.There was a dream start to the match as Corey Evans scored within the first 2 minutes from a throw by Pikey and then doubled the lead with his second a short while later after a pinpoint cross by Pikey, 2 - 0. The second period Port Talbot took their foot off the gas and allowed Bryn back into the game although, the introduction of Ashley Lewis on the right gave Port Talbot inspiration and it was Ashley who scored the third goal after a goal mouth scramble, 3 - 0. The third period was one to forget for Port Talbot as they totally switched off allowing Bryn plenty of time and space to create chance after chance. Credit going to William Fox in goals who made some fine saves to keep the score the same, 3 - 0. After some stern words from the coach Port Talbot when back up a few gears and began to contest the ball and revert back to their passing game. The ref was heavily involved in this half and had to stop the game several times to cool the players down after some strong challenges. Corey Evans after being pulled, pushed and kicked by nearly all of the Bryn defenders at some point during the game deservedly scored his third of the game when the goalie allowed his weak shot to trickle between his legs and into the net. This inspired Port Talbot who put some of the best passing moves of the game together now with Ashley Lewis involved in nearly all of them. These resulted in Corey returning the favour to Pikey by crossing for Pikey to score twice, the last goal coming as a result of some fine inter passing on the right which really got the home fans (parents) cheering, final score 6 - 0. Man of the match going to Port Talbot's smallest player Ashley Lewis for his neat and intelligent play on the right wing, WELL DONE LADS.
