Report by Ian Wozencroft Match Report The first away game of the season took us to locks lane in the glorious sunshine. With only 8 players making the journey again there was to be no subs and the boys had 40 minutes hard work in front of them. Port Talbot made much the better start with their crisp passing game and movement off the ball causing Porthcawl major problems in the first 10 minute period. The second period continued in the same manner with wingers Morgan Davies and Pikey a constant threat with runs and crosses. It was no surprise then when Pikey opened the scoring with a well taken shot from the edge of the area which left the home keeper with no chance 0-1. The third period was a disapointment as Port Talbot lost their tempo and passing game allowing Porthcawl back into the game with a well taken goal 1-1. Needless to say there were a few stern words from the coach in the interval which resulted in a much improved final period with Port Talbot having chance after chance ( Pikey!). With only a few minutes left Tom Phillpott won the ball deep in his own half passed to Lewis Wozencroft who set Morgan Davies away who after beating his marker sent over a perfect cross allowing Ashley Lewis to smash home the winner from 3 yards out 1-2. Man of the match going to Lewis Wozencroft for some strong tackles and neat passes out of defence. What a difference a week makes, the same result but a vastly improved display.
