Holdsworth keen to keep Giles at County
Newport County manager Dean Holdsworth wants to keep hold of former Port Talbot defender Martyn Giles. Martyn has been really unlucky, he’s a quality player and a smashing guy and I want to keep him here because we’d be weaker without him. Bath and a number of others have been in touch, but we want Martyn to stay with us”. Giles signed for Port Talbot Town on his release from Cardiff City in 2003 but made just four starts before returning to England with Morecombe. Giles then returned to the Welsh Premier League a year later with Carmarthen Town before signing for Hereford United and then made the move to Newport County in 2008.
